TESTEMONIALS

I had the pleasure of playing Galt Country Club in June of 2015 as I was in Cambridge, Ontario covering the LPGA Manulife tournament for Golf Channel.  I had heard from several people that this was an old Stanley Thompson gem and that I should play it given the chance.  From my initial look at the course driving in to actually playing it, I felt right at home.  I have always been a fan of tight, tree-lined courses with doglegs going both ways and small tilted greens.  Galt CC is a charming, playable, easy to walk, visually pleasing course.  As I played each hole, I appreciated the design and its challenges and couldn’t wait to see what the next hole had in store.

I’m a big fan of straightforward courses without trickery….pure, simple courses that are a delight to walk and take strategy to play well.  You have to be accurate at Galt CC and make sure you keep your ball underneath the hole on the greens.  Speaking of the greens, the tilted bent/poa greens reminded me so much of the courses I grew up on in Northern California—easy to putt from the right spots, but terribly demanding hole high or above.   It isn’t long by today’s standards, but provides plenty a test of golf.  The back nine has gorgeous vistas of the Grand River with most of those holes playing very close to the river itself.

Galt Country Club is a course that I’d never tire of playing and I look forward to a return visit in the years to come.  Many thanks to Head Professional Rob Moore and his wonderful staff for the generous hospitality and making me feel so welcome.

All the best,

I am a member of Bayview G&CC and have the good fortune of playing on such a well-groomed and challenging course; as well, I play quite a bit of golf at other courses and while not on my bucket list to play all 100 of the Score 100, I have played 55 of them!

Simply put, if I lived within the Cambridge area, I would join Galt G&CC in a heart-beat! You could hardly do better than play your course every day of the week!

What a wonderful golf course. I am a short hitting 13 handicap and your course not only sets up well for me, it is clear, from looking over my shoulder at the back tees, the course would be a pleasure and a challenge for longer hitting golfers.

The par 3’s (of course, being a short hitter, always my favourites!) are wonderful – all are excellent but in particular, the first par 3 on the front (4th hole?) is beautifully framed and the 3 on the back all great! Love the second par 3 with the water view.

The rest of the course is simply just good and fun to play….tight, yes, but fun…..and, if people find it too tight, they won’t once they get to the 15th and 17th holes! The walk from #9 to the 10th tee is beautiful, as is the 10th hole….but…..maybe not everyone will say so once they get on that dastardly green!

The greens, and we have outstanding greens at Bayview, and, I had just played the day before at The National, are among the best greens I have ever played.

Your team could not have been more professional or nice….

Like I said – if I lived in your area, I would be proud to be a member and would highly recommend your course to any serious or beginning golfer.
